Hi I'm Jon Gunzel and welcome to your next challenge.
Today's challenge is to catch yourself in a justification or excuse today and then own up to the truth.
Ok folks, this one is not exactly in the shallow end of the pool, it will require a little honesty with yourself and a little work, but you've done such an amazing job so far, I know you can do it!
So here's what you need to do:
This challenge will require you to pay close attention to your own thoughts and words today. You're looking for ANY place you make an excuse or justify a behavior today. Doesn't even need to be a bad behavior, but it might be more productive if it is.
Some ways I know I make excuses are,
I'm tired so I'll start my diet tomorrow, that person was mean to me so I can be mean back to him,
I don't have to show up at work today, no one will notice.
It's important for us to recognize ourselves making an excuse or justification. Often it is these very small moments where we compromise ourselves that we end up giving away the success we really wanted for that day.
Once you catch yourself, ask yourself WHY you made the excuse or justification instead of taking responsibility for your actions, words or feelings. Was it fear? Was it pride? Was whatever the reason was really worth giving up your success and integrity in that moment?
Every excuse or justification we catch ourselves in becomes an opportunity for us to own up to the truth and take back the success when then deserve.
So today your challenge is to catch yourself making an excuse or justification and then ask yourself why. Finally, own up to the truth and make the situation right.
I know you can do this. Keep up the great work and we'll see you in the next challenge
