Lesson 3.1 - Discovering The REAL You | Click To Read More . . .

Hi I'm Trina Gunzel and welcome to the next lesson in the Stories to Success System.

In this lesson, we cover how to discover your bigger skill set, experiences, and knowledge.  We're going to help you understand the whole picture of who you are and who you can be through your valuable life stories and experiences.

{S2S Intro Splash}

So many people spend their whole life searching for a job and doing what they think they should do, rather than really developing what they are naturally good at and doing what they want to do.

Today, we are going to help you see how your life stories and experiences have created you to be the person that you are, to value that, and to see how others can benefit from you sharing the things that you have personally went through and learned.

After our son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 4 and went into a diabetic coma, it took me a while to work through the stress of learning how to manage it, to calculate every carb before giving him an insulin shot so he could eat, and setting alarms every two hours to monitor him overnight.  I also had to realize there was a whole grief side to living with this autoimmune disease and had to let go of what I thought my life would look like,  After I embraced our new reality and helped my son to feel empowered by being in studies, getting advanced technology that makes this easier to manage, and working with my husband to really be a team in helping our son, I saw that maybe what I was going through was for a bigger purpose.  Maybe it had nothing to do with hurting me but had everything to do with helping me discover my bigger purpose in helping others.

Because I have that story, I was able to write a book about Type 1 Diabetes:  Can't Dia.beat.us The Highs and Lows of Raising A Type 1 Diabetic Child that people around the world have ordered, I have been a guest speaker for workshops and trainings to help families, I share my stories, and knowledge to help other Type 1 Families, and my son has been inspired to also share, speak, and teach the things he has learned managing Type 1 Diabetes and living with it since age 4.

There's a quote I love by Catherine Pulsifer that says, "While he did have faith and passion, he had many challenges to overcome.  It was not an easy ride to success, but through his faith and passion he did make it."

Another one by Roger Crawford to help you in this is:  "Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional."

Write these quotes down on notecards and post them somewhere you can read them to inspire you.  Also, find two more you can add to your inspiration board that relate to overcome challenges, purpose, or courage.

So, are you starting to see that it is really about how we look at our situation?  We can choose to make our stories the best thing that ever happened to us by looking at the blessings and learning and then paying that learning forward.

As part of helping you do this, today you are going to be completing the Life Stories Exercise.

Through this exercise, you will be writing your own personal responses to discover what from your life stories and experiences has prepared you to share with others on a variety of topics from business to health and from forgiveness to courage.

By completing this exercise, you will see what your life experiences have prepared you to do and discover your bigger purpose.

So, your action steps for today are to:

  1. Write down the two inspirational quotes I shared on notecards and find two more that you also like.  Post them all somewhere you can see them daily to inspire you as you are progressing forward.
  1. Complete the Life Stories Exercise

By doing this work, you are making progress toward seeing how your experiences and stories have lead you to your purpose and you are gathering information that will help you be able to make a bigger impact in the world.

I'm proud of you for taking these steps and for knowing that you can relate to others by seeing the learning and value in your experiences.

Keep up the great work and I'll see you in the next lesson.
