Lesson # 5.4 - Product Creation Framework | Click To Read More . . .

Hi, I'm Jon Gunzel and welcome to the next lesson in the Stories to Success System.  In this lesson we are going to tackle the Master Product Framework we will use to build our knowledge, experience and skills into a Valuable Final Product our customers can't wait to consume.

By the end of this step, you will have created your first product and know exactly how it will help your customers get results!

{S2S Splash Intro}

Before we dive into this lesson, go ahead and download and print out the Master Product Framework so you have it in your hands to refer to as we go along.  It will help to see the flow and layout as we go through this process.

I remember how powerless I felt when I first started out as a consultant. I had so many different techniques and so many lessons I wanted to teach but when it came time to convey to the client what my product was, I always struggled to define exactly what it was I did or what they could expect.

I needed a way to distill down all my knowledge, experience and skills into something that enhanced their survival so they would exchange for it.  Remember, money follows PRO-survival attention.

I needed a way to turn all my seemingly random knowledge into a useful, tangible product that solved my client's problems.  Enter the Master Product Framework.

If you think about it, all business is simply the organization of chaos.  Take building a house for example.  The wood, metal, concrete and other raw materials already exist in the world.  It's the contractor, the lumber mill, the cement company and the home supply store that take those existing components and organize or shape them into a useful product and eventually into a home.

In much the same way, most of the information in any consulting product is available in books, other courses, or even on YouTube for free.  The value we create as business owners is to capture, organize and transform that knowledge into a SYSTEM that allows our client to get cheaper and faster results.  THAT, they are always willing to pay for.

So, this framework is designed to help us organize our product based on the customer's needs and wants.  Using it correctly, we can then predict the client's needs and the solution that will give them the transformation they desire.

The Master Product Framework, is designed to be worked from left to right, then top to bottom.  As you'll see, there are 6 rows across.  Each row will be a different step in your product.  The column labels across the top are:  Problem the client has, gradient solution the client needs, transformational benefits they will receive, my tool or resource for the client and lastly, the name of the step.

Using this step by step framework allows us to build a product tailored EXACTLY to the client's needs and feel secure and confident in exactly which problems the product solves and how we solve them.

So let's break it down.   Column One is titled: Problem The Client Has.  In this section we fill in a specific problem our client has and wants to solve.  For example in the Stories To Success System, our first problem is: You are made for something special, but you don't know what.

Now the first time you fill this out, don't worry about getting steps 1 through 6 in the perfect order, just fill out each line and we can always change the order to work better if necessary.  Eventually you will put all steps in order to form an overall gradient your customers follow.

Think of a gradient like a ramp.  It starts at one level and gradually climbs on a smooth, easy slope to get the client from point a to point b.

Column Two is titled: Gradient Solution The Client Needs.  This is the logical solution to the problem in column one.  It's the first step in the gradient.    In the Stories To Success System, the Gradient Solution is:   Discover your purpose and industry to gain direction to start building a business based on your skills and experiences.

Column Three is the transformational benefits your client receives once they have the solution.  This column is especially important to our sales and marketing as we use it to talk with our client about the results they will see when they enroll in our program. So in our S2S system, the transformational benefit for step 1 is clarity, sense of purpose, defined passion, and direction.

Column Four is where you list the Tool or Resource that you will use to create the transformation for the client.  This could be a technique or modality you use, a worksheet or program you create or even an outline that the client fills in to create a product of their own.

In Stories To Success, this Master Product Framework is one example of a tool we adapted for our own success that we then passed along to you so you can be successful with it, too.

In the last column, we finally name the step.  Through years of trial and error we found placing the naming step LAST allows us to concentrate on solving our client's problems.  It also keeps us from getting distracted and accidentally writing the program to match the name instead of focusing on the client.

One final benefit to naming the step last, almost 100 percent of the time, the name comes to us as we finish writing the step.

The number of steps in a given product is based on how many steps are needed for the client to achieve the desired result.  In a small introductory product, we may only have 3 steps.  In the Stories To Success System, we have 8 modules with a total of 50 steps or more.

The more difficult the problem we are solving is, the more steps we should build to solve it.  Remember, the key to having clients be successful with your products is to make sure you make a product with a gentle and complete gradient to learning.

Big problems broken down into small steps are much easier to complete than trying to tackle it all in one go.  So as you complete your Master Product Framework, pick 1 main problem and use the number of steps you need to break that problem down into small chunks.

Once your Framework is complete, you will have a very clearly organized product that makes it easy to show your clients what they can expect from your program.  It should also help you think more clearly and feel like you have a legitimate way to help.

If the problem you are solving is big, the Master Product Framework still applies.  First create an overall framework and list the 6-8 major steps the client will need to take.  Those 6-8 steps become your modules.  Then create a NEW Master Product Framework for each module, breaking each down into smaller steps.

Soon your entire project will be organized into clean and clear steps your clients can accomplish while making incremental progress on the overall goal of the product.

Remember, our job is to create Valuable Final Products that get real results for our clients in the fastest and most cost effective way possible.  That's where all the value comes in and that's what they will pay for.

Once all your steps are in place, it's time to title your product.  Words like blueprint, framework, road map, or system help to show your client you have streamlined the path to their success.

Finally, you should feel even more confident in your ability to deliver your value to the world now.  You have designed a custom solution available NOWHERE else in the world.  You are the CREATOR of a brand new product and the way you refer to yourself should show that.

So, your action steps for this lesson are:

#1  Pick your first client problem to solve and complete a Master Product Framework following the directions above.

#2  Title your completed Framework and print it out so you have a hard copy of your first product.

#3  Create a title for YOURSELF based on the new product you created.  For example:  I'm Jon Gunzel, the creator of the Stories To Success System.  Or I'm Bill Johnson, the architect of the Jogging to Freedom Blueprint.

Now if you're like me, you'll have so many different products running through your mind it may be difficult to get started at first.  No worries!  In the next lesson, we're going to show you how to organize your ideas in Microsoft OneNote so you can work cleanly and consistently making relentless progress and churning out amazing products while capitalizing on ALL your amazing ideas.

Until then, have fun building your first product!  Remember the Facebook group is there if you need to bounce ideas off the community and keep up the great work. You'll be enrolling your first clients in no time and THEIR lives will never be the same again!
